When we ask someone, how are you doing, do we really want to know or is it just something we ask to be polite?

Are we willing to listen?

Till later,

Paul

    How true it is,
I am certainly guilty. “..let each esteem other[s] better than themselves” (Philippians 2:3). So often I don’t listen because I think what I have to say is more important than what the other person has to say. Philippians Ch 2 gives a perfect example of what it means to walk in humility and I pray that I don’t read it for the sake of intelligence rather, I pray it becomes engraved on the tablets of my heart.

    Good Morning Brian,

It was a blessing and pleasure to talk with you Sunday night. One of the things that I am beginning to learn after all these years, is that the Lord truly takes pleasure when we come to Him and allow the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to learning to hear that still small voice in the midst of the storms, the battles and gives us the peace, the rest, the wisdom and the words to speak.

That we are daily in the process of becoming more like Him, walking in His ways, not always understanding, but remembering He has the whole picture and He which has begun a work in us, will complete it and we will look back in awe and know that He that has called us and we are were He wants us, to be the pen, the song, the instrument in His hands to touch others with the hope that we have in Him.

Blessings my friend, see ya at the Bean sometime. I will be over in Woodstock today as I have a writers meeting with the Christian Authors Guild this evening.

It depends on the context. If it is in the middle of a noisy party or other social event, maybe not. If I am seeing a friend one on one, then sure!

  4. Beckie Says:

Great question, Paul. I know sometimes I’m guilty of that. But what bothers me is when someone asks you and then they start looking around for somebody. I try not to be that way and to concentrate on what they are saying.

    Blessings to you.

    Hi Beckie,

Thank you for blogging by and for sharing your comments!!

I agree with you, that is really frustrating, when someone asks you a question and like you said, start looking around.

Like you, I try to stay focused on the person that I am listening too.

    Blessings to you my friend.

    Hi Nancze,

What a blessing to have you blog by!

I am just getting back into the swing of things again, becoming a little more focused, knowing that I am where the Lord wants me, doing what I am doing with the Coffee Cup Ministry.

Wow, I think about that question a lot. As in, “How are you?” “You would be really scared if I told you.” It bothers me, because why ask if you don’t really want to know the truth? When I ask I do.
