Do You Hear What I Hear?
Do you know what I heard this morning?
Nothing! Absolutely nothing! How awesome is that! I woke up this morning at around 4:30 a.m., and it was absolutely silent and instead of doing what I normally do, I did not turn on the computer, did not turn on the radio, nor did I turn on the lights.
I lit the oil lamp, sat in my recliner and began to spend time with the Lord in prayer, and most importantly, in silence.
It has been a while since I have taken the time to just come into his presence and be still, to say nothing.
It was during this time that the Lord brought to my memory Psalms 37:7 Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. (Amplified Bible).
It is in the stillness and quietness, that we learn to trust, to lean on the Lord, to hear His heartbeat and to know that He has been waiting for us to just come before Him, with our hearts towards Him, open, ready to receive from Him that which is needed for the day.
It is during these times that He brings His thoughts to our minds, as He did this morning. I heard in my heart the Holy Spirit say, Do You Hear What I Hear?
Then I understood, that it was as we focused on the Lord, as we come into His presence that we are able to hear His heart and He speaks to us, heart to heart, in our inner most being.
In the stillness, we learn to rest, to trust, to lean not to our own understanding but rather, our trust is in the most High, that we no longer have to fret, be discouraged, because the creator of Heaven and Earth is watching over us as we trust in Him.
Be still, for it is in the stillness that we will hear His heart!

Thanks for sharing this Paul. I need to be still and quiet more often. I love your idea of using the oil lamp. I’ll have to give that a try.
Blessings to you my brother!

Hi Paul! It’s me again. Wanted to invite you to My Photo Blog to meet my brother. He’s a Christian and it’s because of him and his wife that I know the Lord now.
Blessings to you!
