How Are You Burning?

There is just something about sitting here at my desk with the oil lamp lit.

It just sets the mood to be still and quiet, to be sensitive to the presence of the Lord!

It amazes me how the Lord shows Himself in the simple things of life so that we can relate to Him and to share it with others, to encourage them.

As I was shaving the other morning. I started watching the candle that was burning and I was impressed by the way that it kept burning. Even when it was being buffeted around by the wind that was blowing, it kept on burning and putting off the aroma.

I realized what the Lord was speaking to me, that like that candle, it had a covering, yet it was vulnerable to the elements, but the jar gave it protection.

When we abide in the Lord, and the winds of adversity come our way and we are blown side to side, we become brighter, and the Holy Spirit gives us strength to stand and we then give off the fragrance of Christ, that is as a sweet aroma to the Lord.

It is during these times of adversity and battles, that the character of Christ is being formed in us, that we begin to reflect more of Him.

In these days of adversity, when so much is going on, we stand strong, on the foundation, on the solid rock, on the word, of God, by faith, knowing that we are being prepared for a time such as this, to be as candles, not hide under a bushel, but as beacon’s of light, giving hope to a world, that needs to see the light of Christ, that we, as always, are never without hope.
