Shield Of Faith
This morning as I loaded my E-Sword Bible Program, the morning devotion was “Shield Of Faith: The Power That Protects Us” by G.H. Morrison, The Glasgow Pulpit series on Ephesians 6:16 which reads “Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].” [Amplified Bible]
Morrison shares the following: “Faith is not here the power that leads to victory, it is the power that protects us in the battle. It keeps us un-embittered and serene amid the mysteries and buffetings of life. To believe that love is on the throne and that through everything there runs a loving purpose, is the deepest of all senses to be shielded.”
As I read this I realized how real this has become in my life.
That indeed the Shield of Faith has been covering me over these last three years. That it has kept me un-embittered, and only the Lord and the Holy Spirit could do that.
Because of that I have had that peace of God that passes all understanding.
As we lift the Shield of Faith, it not only protects us, it assures us that in spite of all that is going on in our life, that the Lord is on the Throne and He will bring us through, He is our covering, our shield, our defense.
He is enabling us to rise up in the power and might of His Spirit and teaching us to put on the full complete armor of God and to lift up the Shield of Faith!
Press on my friends, Press on, the battle is the Lord’s!!

Hey, Paul,
Almost forgot and said, Hi. But we’re both transplanted Southerners now and we need to speak the lingo. So, Hey!
What a wonderful post. We do need a shield of faith and to come to a point of peace. hang onto it!

Great post. One of my favourite passages in the Bible is on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). It’s important to remember to put it all on daily, and not just one piece. That way we will be fully protected.
Have a Christ filled day!

I am so glad that I have the shield
. Otherwise I wouldn’t know how to sustain the attacks of the evil one.

how true. I sometimes pout, because I feel like God is not protecting me from certain “mean” people in my life. But i need to quit pouting, and put on the armor. thanks

Paul,
After reading this, I felt a true blessing. Especially the words: “Faith is not here the power that leads to victory, it is the power that protects us in the battle. It keeps us un-embittered and serene amid the mysteries and buffetings of life. To believe that love is on the throne and that through everything there runs a loving purpose, is the deepest of all senses to be shielded.”
The words, loving purpose really hit me. Even though one goes through battles or separation from friends and family, there is a loving purpose perhaps running through and around the event.
Thank you, my friend for sharing these words and thank you, too, for visiting my site.
Blessings,
Toni

Hi Paul! It’s been awhile since I stopped by to read your wonderful entries! Isn’t it so comforting and the best feeling, putting on the armour and knowing God will protect us and bring us through anything?!?
Enjoyed my visit and will be back!

Hi Paul. I used to have E-Sword on my computer before I reformated, but that was back before they added the daily devotions. I downloaded it again and it is wonderful! Hope you are doing well. Take care and God bless!
