It Is Well With My Soul!

“Everyday Christianity cannot be practiced unless we incessantly receive into our lives that supply of Spiritual power which is necessary in order to preserve within us that spirit which is willing to deny self, to serve others, to endure wrongs and to let others have the last word.”
“This is the best part of our whole Christian life.”
“Nothing is so blessed as quiet, unbroken communication with our Lord, the sense of the Lord’s nearness, which then fills our souls, is greater than any other peace, joy, inner satisfaction, or security which we have known.”
“Even adversity and sorry lose their sting when we share everything with the Lord.”
“Prayer is breath of the Soul.”
The above quotes are from O. Hallesby on Prayer, Pages 146-147
If there is one thing that I have come to appreciate are the saints of old, who wrote, who share the insights that the Lord has given them. In sharing, they allow us to partake of the insights and the revelations that the Lord has given them in their walk with the Lord and one of the things that I learned from my spiritual father, Wade Taylor, is we eat the meat, we spit out the bones and we put on the shelve that which we don’t understand until the Lord gives us insight and discernment.
O’Hallesby has been such an encouragement to me as I read his book, as he exhorts us in our prayer life, to come to a place of intimacy with our Father, with our Lord. That Our Father takes delight in breaking bread with us. It is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that enables us to walk in the ways of the Lord. It is the Spirit that reveals the heart of God so that we know how to pray.
He teaches us how to serve, that in serving, we are free. He breaks the bands of the enemy off our heart so that we can rejoice in the Lord, even in the midst of the battle of life.
There is such a peace in the Lord when we walk in that peace which passes all understanding, which I continue to experience in my life. Even in the midst of the battle, in the midst of life, we as Christians can walk in this peace, now!
“Indeed, adversity and sorry will lose their sting when we share everything with the Lord,” when we just talk with Him as a friend.
Prayer is the breath of the soul. It is the source of strength, of life to us, for in prayer, in praise, in adoration of the Lord we find that peace that passes all understanding and we can say with all assurance, it is well with our soul!
Till later,
Paul
